Located within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Baylor University, our research investigates how individuals with neurogenic language disorders recover language and cognitive abilities following brain injury.

 

We employ an integrative framework that spans behavioral language interventions, cognitive training paradigms, AI-driven discourse analytics, and neuromodulation approaches.

 

Our behavioral language research focuses on story retelling–based interventions designed to improve spoken narrative production.

 

In parallel, our cognitive training program examines processing-speed enhancement protocols that target core cognitive mechanisms supporting communication.

 

Complementing these behavioral efforts, our AI research develops computational models of discourse, leveraging large-scale narrative data and clinical language samples to characterize communication profiles and support assessment and treatment planning.

 

Our neuromodulation studies further investigate how targeted brain stimulation can facilitate language and cognitive recovery.
